What SoberSphere is

SoberSphere brings together free information about substance use, treatment and life in recovery. It is for people exploring a change, considering care or living in recovery, and the people who support them. We provide guides, Treatment 101, topics, a blog, and Harper, an AI guide for a first conversation. Membership is free. There is no paid tier.

What we are not:

• Not a medical provider. Nothing on SoberSphere is medical advice. Guides provide general information, not advice about your individual circumstances. We don’t diagnose, treat, or prescribe.
• Not a therapy service. Harper is an AI guide, not a therapist, counselor, or crisis hotline.
• Not a treatment center, and not a referral service. We don’t provide treatment. SoberSphere does not rank, recommend or refer treatment centers. We explain what treatment involves; where to go is your decision.
• Not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988. Our crisis support page is open to anyone.

Your account

You need to be at least 18 years old to use SoberSphere. When you create an account, you agree to provide accurate information and keep it updated. You are responsible for keeping your password secure. If you think someone has accessed your account without permission, email legal@sobersphere.com immediately.

You can read every public page and follow links to public resources without an account. That includes all guides, Harper, and our crisis resources. Harper keeps no record of your conversations unless you're a signed-in member with Harper's memory on — you can see and delete those conversations any time. Otherwise, what you say stays in your browser tab and is gone when you close it.

Guide saving, priorities and saved checklists are being prepared. All public information remains available whether or not you join.

You can request account deletion anytime by emailing privacy@sobersphere.com. We will process your request within 30 days. We may suspend or close your account if you violate these terms. We will tell you why unless doing so would compromise safety or a legal obligation.

Membership and member Benefits

Membership is free. No credit card. No trial period that auto-converts. No paid tier, now or later. Free means free.

We do not sell memberships, subscriptions, or upgrades, and we do not collect payment information. If anything on this site ever asks you to pay for membership, it is not us — email legal@sobersphere.com.

SoberSphere is free to read, free to join, and carries no advertising. Like many member organizations, we are sometimes compensated when members use non-clinical products and services offered through member Benefits — things like classes, tools and everyday services. Every such relationship is disclosed where it appears. No treatment provider pays for, sponsors or influences anything on SoberSphere, and nothing here is a referral.

Outside resources have their own access rules and costs. Resource listings explain access, costs and any commercial relationship. You choose whether to use anything listed.

Using the platform

What you can do:

• Read guides, use Harper, and follow links to public resources
• Share links to public SoberSphere pages

What you can’t do:

• Use the platform if you’re under 18
• Create multiple accounts
• Impersonate another person
• Share others’ personal information without their consent
• Use automated tools to scrape content or data
• Attempt to access other users’ accounts or data
• Use Harper to generate harmful content or attempt to bypass its safety measures
• Redistribute or republish our guide content without permission
• Use SoberSphere for commercial purposes without our written agreement

Harper

Harper is an AI — a conversational guide built for the first conversation about alcohol, drugs, or recovery. It won’t pretend to be human. Harper’s responses are generated by AI and may sometimes be inaccurate or incomplete.

Harper is not a licensed professional. Harper won’t diagnose, give medical or legal advice, or recommend a rehab or specific program. It does not provide therapy, treatment plans, or crisis intervention.

Harper is designed to detect language that may indicate a crisis and surface relevant resources (like the 988 Lifeline). This is a safety feature, not a substitute for professional crisis support. If you are in crisis, please contact a crisis service directly.

You are responsible for decisions you make based on information from Harper or any other part of SoberSphere. Always consult qualified professionals for medical, mental health, or legal decisions.

Treatment information

SoberSphere does not rank, recommend or refer treatment centers. We do not operate a treatment directory, and no treatment provider pays for, sponsors or influences anything on SoberSphere.

Treatment 101 explains what treatment involves, what to expect, what to ask and what happens afterward. It brings together public information to help you prepare for a conversation. When you contact a program or another organization, you are dealing with that organization directly, not with us. Verify licensing, services, cost, and insurance with the program itself before you commit to anything.

Content and intellectual property

All guides, educational content, Harper’s responses, design elements, and platform features are owned by SoberSphere Inc. or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission. You may share links to public pages. You may quote brief excerpts with attribution for non-commercial purposes.

Guides link to the public sources supporting their claims and identify SoberSphere’s interpretation. Published guide pages identify their current review status; no medical review is claimed for this edition. A source link is not a medical-review endorsement.

Editorial photographs, illustrations and video on this site are AI-generated. They do not depict SoberSphere’s team, reviewers or members.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using SoberSphere, you agree to our Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers

SoberSphere is provided “as is.” We do our best to keep everything accurate, working, and available, but we can’t guarantee uninterrupted service or error-free content.

We are not liable for:

• Decisions you make based on information from SoberSphere or Harper
• Actions or omissions of any treatment program, helpline, or other organization you reach through information on this site
• Service interruptions or data loss
• Third-party products or services linked from our platform

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SoberSphere’s total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the platform is limited to the amount you’ve paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $100, whichever is greater.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold SoberSphere, its officers, employees, and partners harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the platform or your violation of these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the platform at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continuing to use SoberSphere after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms. If you don’t agree with the changes, you should stop using the platform and request account deletion.

General legal terms

• Governing law: These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
• Disputes: Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Riverside County, California.
• Entire agreement: These terms, along with our Privacy Policy, are the complete agreement between you and SoberSphere.
• Severability: If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
• No waiver: If we don’t enforce a provision of these terms, that doesn’t mean we waive our right to enforce it later.
• Assignment: You can’t transfer your account or rights under these terms. We can transfer ours in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
